Jim joins Lowell, Blake & Associates with 20 years of investment experience. His current responsibilities include managing client portfolios and researching investment strategies. Prior to his role at Lowell Blake, Jim was a global macroeconomic analyst at Loomis Sayles, where he contributed to the development of the firm’s outlook for growth, inflation, corporate profits, financial market trends, economic policy and political developments across the globe. As an active participant in the investment process, Jim was the leader of the yield curve team and was a senior member of several investment teams including international equities, global bonds, investment grade, relative return and real return teams. He has been quoted in financial publications around the world including the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Die Zeit and Asia Asset Magazine.
Before Loomis Sayles, Jim held positions at Brown Brothers Harriman and State Street Bank. In his post-college years Jim drove a tour bus in Denali National Park, prepared taxes for individuals, backpacked across ten countries of the South Pacific and Southeast Asia and developed a passion for white-water kayaking.
Jim earned a BA in business administration from the University of Maine and an MBA from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst, having passed all three levels of the program in succession, and is a member of the CFA Society Boston, the CFA Institute, and the Boston Economics Club. Jim is an avid supporter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), works with the Carlisle-Concord Community Chest on its Grant Allocations Team and resides in Concord with his wife and two sons.
